What is Post-Bariatric Surgery?
Post-bariatric surgery refers to a range of body-contouring procedures that address excess, loose skin, and residual fat that often remain after significant weight loss. While bariatric surgery or lifestyle changes can dramatically improve overall health and reduce body weight, they do not restore skin elasticity or reshape areas affected by stretching over time.
These procedures remove redundant skin, tighten underlying tissues, and refine body contours better to reflect the patient’s new weight and proportions. Common treatment areas include the abdomen, arms, thighs, breasts, and lower body.
Rather than being a single procedure, post-bariatric surgery is generally a customized combination of treatments performed either in stages or as part of a comprehensive surgical plan.
