Breast Augmentation

Augmentation of the breast is the ideal surgery for those dissatisfied with either the volume or the shape of their breasts. Loss of volume might be due to breast-feeding or a natural congenital state. Volume is replaced safely via saline or silicone implants that are inserted through small, well-hidden incisions. There are several choices of incision placement as well as location of the implant either above or below the muscle on the chest.

Asymmetry is also another reason for cosmetic augmentation of the breast with different implants in order to achieve the same size bilaterally. Some people are born with natural deformities such as asymmetry or tubular breasts. In these conditions, additional procedures such as areola size reduction or a breast lift operation might also be necessary to achieve the desirable size and shape of the breast. After breast feeding, augmentation alone might not completely correct the deformity of the breast if excessive drooping is present. A combination of augmentation and lift might be necessary in this case.

Most people return to work after one week. However, heavy lifting and upper body exercises should be avoided for 6 to 8 weeks after submuscular breast augmentation.
