A treatment that can serve many patients as an alternative to liposuction, CoolSculpting® utilizes a process known as cryolipolysis to reduce excess fat in specific areas and enhance body contours. Using a special device with a mild, vacuum-like pressure, fat cells in the target areas will be cooled and broken down. The process is designed to shrink and ultimately destroy the excess fat cells, which will then be naturally filtered out of the body over the next few months. The treatment should lead to noticeable fat reduction in the targeted areas during this time.
CoolSculpting® typically lasts about one to two hours, depending on the size and the number of treatment areas.
Dr. Bayati makes every effort to make CoolSculpting® treatment as comfortable as possible. You may experience a cold, tingly sensation when the device makes contact with the skin; however, this is usually mild and quickly subsides.
CoolSculpting® can be used as an alternative to liposuction in many cases; however, it does not replace liposuction as a viable option for fat reduction. Some patients may have larger areas of excess fat deposits or need treatment in areas of the body for which CoolSculpting® is not an ideal option to achieve the best results. However, for patients who are candidates for CoolSculpting®, this treatment can be very beneficial, especially for those who are looking for options that do not require surgical intervention and excessive recovery times.
Most patients experience the best results after about two to four months. Depending on the size and number of treatment areas, patients may need more than one treatment with CoolSculpting® to reach their goals. Dr. Bayati will examine you during your initial consultation and talk with you about the best treatment plan for your needs.
