Breast Lift / Mastopexy

Mastopexy is the ideal operation for breasts that have become too droopy. Ptosis or drooping of the breast can be congenital or develop after breast feeding or weight loss. A lot of women have drooping of the breasts from the time they develop in their teenage years and that is considered a congenital variety. The ideal location for the nipple is based on the height of the patient and the shape of the breasts and in most individuals it should be at or above the crease under the breast.

At times the loss of volume from weight loss or breast feeding leads to a droopy appearance. In these cases, volume replacement in the form of an implant might be necessary in conjunction with a breast lift to restore the proper shape and volume to the breast. Your physician can recommend the proper combination if augmentation is necessary.

Most people can return to work one week after surgery. However, heavy lifting and upper body exercises should be avoided for 4 weeks.
